Village Playgarden in the news after the Eaton Fire destroys the school:
The Guardian, January 20, 2025
Our Programs
Village Playgarden has re-opened at a new location in Arcadia at the Barnhart School. We serve children from the ages of 2 to 6 years old. Our lead teachers have extensive experience teaching with young children ranging from ten to more than thirty years. We have three classrooms that are all our own and share charming outdoor areas, community buildings, and parking facilities with Barnhart School.
We offer a school year program from September through May, and a 10-week summer program from June to August. Our work is rooted in the traditions of Waldorf early childhood education, inclusive and anti-biased curriculum, nonviolent conscious parenting, and immersive outdoor play in Mother Nature at Barnhart School and the nearby Santa Anita Arboretum.
Our Staff
Village Playgarden faculty and staff is a culturally and racially diverse community of professionals committed to the whole well-being of young children and their families. Our faculty is engaged in regular professional development and the deep study of child and human development, including Waldorf early childhood pedagogy, nonviolent and compassionate communication, relationship-based community building, and deep connection with the natural world. Most importantly, our faculty has an authentic love for young children with a passion for supporting their families.
