Our Philosophy

A Sanctuary for Childhood Since 2008

At Village Playgarden, we honor early childhood as a sacred season of life. Since 2008, our licensed Waldorf-inspired program in Arcadia has offered a gentle, home-like place where imagination, nature, and loving relationships guide learning. Children are met with warmth and respect, held by steady daily rhythms, and invited to explore the living world—gardening, cooking, singing, painting, and storytelling—so their senses, bodies, and hearts grow in harmony.

Play, Wonder, and Growth

We believe play is the foundation of learning. Through open-ended play, nature immersion, and artistic expression, children develop confidence, curiosity, and creativity. Our days unfold with rhythm and purpose, balancing movement, rest, and nourishment so that each child can grow in their own time and way.

Rooted in Love and Respect

At Village Playgarden, children are seen for who they truly are. Teachers meet each child with kindness and joy, offering a sense of safety and belonging that allows them to explore the world with wonder.

A Holistic Approach to Early Childhood

Our curriculum draws from Waldorf education, attachment theory, anti-bias practice, mixed-age classrooms, and nature-based learning. These threads weave together to support healthy physical, emotional, and social development for children ages two to six.

Experienced, Heart-Centered Teachers

Each classroom is led by deeply experienced educators with decades of knowledge in early childhood development. Our teachers are supported by full-time assistants who help create a calm, nurturing rhythm and a rich daily experience for the children.

Nature Is Our Classroom

Every day, children spend time outdoors—playing, gardening, and exploring the changing seasons. We follow the rhythms of the natural world, helping children discover their place within a living, breathing earth and fostering a lifelong love for the environment.

A Community for Families

We are more than a preschool—we’re a village. Parents, teachers, and children grow together through seasonal festivals, potlucks, and ongoing family education. We welcome caregivers into the heart of our community, where connection and collaboration thrive.

Celebrating Diversity and Belonging

Village Playgarden is rooted in attachment-aware care and anti-bias education. We welcome children and families in their full cultural selves, building bridges across difference and nurturing a sense of belonging for all.

Education for a Kinder World

We believe that early childhood education lays the foundation for peace, compassion, and lifelong well-being. By cultivating empathy, creativity, and self-esteem, we help children grow into kind, capable, and connected human beings.

Flexible Enrollment, Nourishing Days

Families may choose 3, 4, or 5 days per week (8:30–3:30). Morning and afternoon small meals are prepared from scratch with the children, and each child brings their own lunch to share at a communal table with teachers and friends.
