Welcome! Choosing the right early childhood program is an important decision, and we’re here to help. Below you’ll find clear, easy-to-read answers about our school-year and summer programs, daily rhythm, enrollment process, and overall experience in our Waldorf-inspired, nature-based learning environment. About Our Programs

What ages do you serve?

We serve children ages 2–6 during the school year. Our summer program is open to children ages 3–6 with a minimum 2-week enrollment.

Do you offer part-time or full-time schedules?

Yes. Families may choose 3-day, 4-day, or 5-day weekly schedules.

What are your program hours?

Our program runs from 8:30 am – 3:30 pm.

How do I apply?

You can schedule a tour and submit your application through the Apply and Contact pages on our website.

Do you have a waitlist?

Yes. Some classes fill quickly, and families may join the waitlist when a class is full.

Philosophy & Curriculum

What is Waldorf-inspired early childhood education?

Waldorf education supports the whole child—head, heart, and hands—through play, imagination, rhythm, and meaningful connection with nature.

How much time do children spend outdoors?

Outdoor time is a core part of every day and includes garden play, nature walks, and time in our outdoor learning spaces.

What is a typical day like?

A daily rhythm may include:

  • Warm welcome and arrival time
  • Indoor and outdoor play
  • Songs, movement, and storytelling
  • Nature time or gardening
  • Nutritious snack
  • Creative activities such as baking, crafts, or handwork
  • Rest or quiet time

Health, Safety & Logistics

What is your illness policy?

Children should stay home if they have a fever, vomiting, diarrhea, or symptoms that prevent comfortable participation.

Do you accommodate allergies?

Yes. We work closely with families to support allergies and dietary needs.

How do you handle emergencies?

Village Playgarden is a licensed childcare program. Staff follow all state-required safety and emergency procedures.

We are located at 240 W. Colorado Blvd., Arcadia, CA 91007.

Meals, Rest & Daily Care

What food do you serve?

Children enjoy simple, wholesome snacks prepared together. Families provide lunch, which the class shares as a peaceful, communal meal.

Do children nap?

Yes. Younger children nap daily; older children enjoy quiet rest followed by calm play.

Do children need to be potty trained?

Summer Program: children must not be in diapers.
School-Year Program: potty learning is supported when developmentally appropriate.

What should my child bring each day?

Children should bring a water bottle, weather-appropriate clothing, and extra clothes. A full list is provided after enrollment.

Parent Experience & Communication

How do you communicate with families?

We share updates through newsletters, seasonal notes, event invitations, and direct communication as needed.

Can parents get involved?

Yes! Families are invited to seasonal festivals, celebrations, and community gatherings.

Can I schedule a tour or classroom visit?

Summer Program

What ages can attend Summer in the Garden?

Children ages 3–6 may attend our summer program.

How long is the summer program?

Summer runs for 10 weeks, with a minimum 2-week enrollment.

What is the summer curriculum like?

Summer offers water play, gardening, farm visits, arts and crafts, and nature-based play.

Do children need to be potty trained for summer?

Yes. All children must be fully out of diapers to attend the summer program.

Enrollment & Policies

When does enrollment open?

Enrollment typically opens in the fall for the upcoming school year. Please check the website for current dates.

Are deposits refundable?

Deposits secure your child’s spot and are generally non-refundable, as outlined in the Enrollment Agreement.
